Successful Horizon 2020 Info Days sessions were organized by MICITT Costa Rica

On the framework of the CTCAP activities, an Info day on HORIZON 2020 opportunities took place on 7 & 8 August in San José, Costa Rica. ALCUE NET project has had a stand to promote regional capabilities and scientific and technological potential.

MICITT Costa Rica along with support from MINCYT Argentina, the ALCUE NET Project and CTCAP prepared Horizon 2020 Info Days on August 7th and 8th. We got together entrepreneurs, researches and cooperation officers from the public, private and academic sector in order to generate a solid Costa Rican group that will be able to formulate and implement innovative research projects and get funded by the European Cooperation.

The Info Days were oriented to let the participants know the new EU cooperation instrument on STI Horizon 2020 and witch is the key for successful proposal. Additionally, we had an excellent space to promote ALCUE NET´s dissemination to the Costa Rican society through presentations, flyers, and visual material. Also guidelines were provided to encourage thematic expert networks, technological platforms, and liaison offices.

Horizon 2020 is the new EU funding programme for research and innovation. It is the biggest Research and Innovation programme globally with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020). By coupling research and innovation, Horizon 2020 will put its emphasis on excellent science, industrial leadership and tackling societal challenges. The importance of international cooperation in science and technology is explicitly recognised in Horizon 2020 programme and today's societal challenges, such as combating climate change, securing a steady supply of energy or feeding a growing world population, can only be dealt with through global actions. Horizon 2020 is open to the participation of researchers from all over the world.
